How to use ignition mode.

Essentially, the matching network must cope with two modes: the Ignition Mode and the Matching Mode. For the Ignition Mode the task is to ignite the plasma. For the Matching Mode the task is to match the previously ignited plasma. Both modes constitute a different load impedance.

Often the capacitor settings for the Matching Mode will allow to ignite the plasma, too. In these cases the user does not need to consider the two modes separately. Sometimes, however, the plasma will not ignite with the capacitors settings for the Matching Mode. In these cases both MatchingCubes and MiniMatches allow to set parameters seperately for Ignition Mode and Matching Mode.

This application note describes how to do this.

Phases.

Prepare the system.

Set the ignition mode parameters.
